What Should U Do When U Tie A Horse Up Tightly Or Loosely?

Answer Question

It depends upon the horse, and the amount of experience it has had with tying. I've got a horse that has had a terrible experience while being tied up, so I basically wrap the lead line around the post several times. If she pulls back, she will have a bit of drift and realize that she can't go anywhere, but she can still move her feet. It's very important for her to feel she can move a bit to avoid the panic that comes with being tightly tied up.
Our other horses can be tied to the post rather tightly, with a quick release knot just in case, and it doesn't bother them at all.
