The uppermost layer of the oceans of the world is sunlight during the daytime. This layer of the ocean is known as sunlit zone or euphotic zone.

Shark is among those ocean fish that belong to sunlit zone. This zone is defined by the light it has not the depth. Sea turtle, seals, coral, jellyfish also belong to the same zone. Shark are counter shaded animals and animals in this zone have counter shading. This means they are light from underside but are dark on their upper part it allows them to hide from predators and to sneak up on their prey.
