We spend one third part of our life sleeping. Research has proved that we usually have 4-7 dreams per night. We are in a trance while dreaming, in a totally new world. Everybody dreams, but not all remember their dreams.

Dreams depict real life, are latent desires of a person, or give an insight into the future; dreams have always remained a mystery for mankind. There are specialists who help in interpreting our dreams.

Dream Dictionaries, have interpretations of various dreams; these are written, based on research and of course certain scientific basis. In these Dictionaries, standard things what you dream for e.g. accidents, angels, animals, weird creatures, babies, fire, their interpretations and what they indicate are revealed. One has to acquire the ability to analyze and interpret one's dreams. This will come only with practice. You have to make your mindset clear that you are going to remember your dream, on awakening you have to jot down what exactly you have dreamt.

Try analyzing your dreams initially results may not be encouraging. As time passes one can become a master of his own dreams and be a perfectionist in its analyses and interpretation. Here it may be remembered that interpretation for one person may not be true for another.

A dream may have different meanings based on the personality of a person.
It takes time and practice to interpret dreams and become an expert at it.

Determining what your dreams mean will depend on what you allow yourself to believe. The Egyptians and Greeks held that dreams were a connection between the supernatural and this world and a way of divine intervention. Christianity, Islam and Judaism hold that dreams were a way in which God sent revelation and the Biblical Joseph or the Prophet Joseph in Islam was able to interpret the correct meaning of dreams. Often they were prescient signs sent by God.

Then there is Sigmund Freud's book "The Interpretation of Dreams" which analyses dreams in a psychological light. In literature such as the Frank Herbert's fantasy novel Dune the spice from the planet Arakis is believed to enhance a person's prescient ability. In order to realize what your dreams mean requires you to remember what you saw. Dreams are easily forgotten and hence writing down what you saw along with correlating them with books on interpretation, especially scientific ones, is your best bet.

There are some websites out there that help people to analyze their own dreams.  Some of them pull together many helpful tools, like a dream log, dream sharing, dream dictionary, dream feedback etc.  These sites are becoming more common.  One of the more popular ones is www.matchadream.com .  With social networking and online communities there will probably be more of these kinds of sites popping up to help dreamers.
