How Long Before I Can Put My Chicks In With Adults?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

Believe me, I know from experience, they need to be big enough to be able to get away from them if they get picked on. You can put them in a pen where the other chickens can walk around them and get used to them, that way they can see they are part of the flock. The older chickens will pick on them for sure. I lost one that managed to get out of the pen, and my older ones or either my guineas killed it. At three months they should be able to manage ok by themselves. I tried mine first by letting them out and watching to make sure nobody picked on them till I was sure they were accepted.
