If the reason is hairball then add petroleum jelly in its food. It will vomit hairball out. It can be out of cold as well. You should try to provide it humid environment. Bring a humidifier for it if possible.
Thank you for your response. I have two humidifiers going, one at each end of our house which is small. Since I gave him a syringe full (no needle of course) of honey barely thinned out at 6am yesterday he didn't cough until this morning around 3am. I gave him another dose and he's sleeping and using the box and eating soft food. I also give him vet grade hairball treatment. I did switch his food about a month ago from Purina to Eukanuba and he seemed to have tolerated it. I'm trying to ge a vet appt at the University Vet school today, just to check him out. Thanks
If your cat has a cough you might not believe it but you can give him a half a teaspoon to a teaspoon of cough medicine and he'll be just fine give the medicine to him every 4-6 hours if needed.
Thank you for your response.....after spending $300 they concluded that he must have asthma since they couldn't come up with any other diagnosis.....after x-rays, blood tests and $30 antibiotic (he didn't have a fever) all it made him do is throw up. I kept giving my honey mixture and after a few days he got better.
