Droughts are a period of time when any form of precipitation is scarce. This leads to animals dying and people having to be very cautious on how much water they use. Australia has some horrible ones and I know other countries do to!

I believe droughts are when there's a lack of rain and/or an increase in hot weather. It'll destroy crops and in some places cause a famine leading to some communities starving and that can lead to lots of after affects. Check droughts in Africa and parts of Asia. I don't know much more from what I've learned over a few years.
