You can tell what sex a parakeet is by the color of its cere. The cere is the fleshy covering above the parakeet's beak. The bird must be a year old to be able to tell for sure. Females, the color is tan, white/light blue, brown. Males, the color is blue, purplish-blue, bright pink or violet. Click here to find out more.

Well I asked the same question and found out that, If you look at a little color on the beak besides the yellow. It will either be pink or blue:).
