During his senior career, from 1957 until 1971, Jimmy scored four hundred and ninety one goals.
As well as being the first division's top goal scorer in six separate seasons, Jimmy scored in league matches on three or more occasions in a single match, on twenty five separate occasions. During his fourteen seasons as a first division player, Jimmy was his club's leading goal scorer on twelve occasions.
Jimmy also managed to score on his debut in every senior team he played for, scoring for Chelsea against Spurs in sixty seven; England U23's also in 1957; on his international debut for England against Peru in Lima, in 1959.
Also on his debut he scored for AC Milan in the San Siro in June 1961; for Spurs against Blackpool, White Hart Lane in 1961 also, and finally for West Ham United against Manchester City at Maine Road in March 1970.
