It is a disease that is of a highly dangerous nature and affects apple trees all over the world. It is caused by a fungus that is called Ventura Inaequalis – the fungus is a hazardous sign for an apple tree, whose growth steadily and insidiously manages to destroy the apple tree by devouring all the leaves and the fruit of the precarious tree.
All over the world, apple trees are vulnerable to the fungus Ventura Inaequalis. Although the apple trees that tend to grow in warmer regions like the tropical ones have a more precarious position with regards to the peril of Ventura Inaequalis, the climatic conditions making it more suitable for the fungus to attack the tree and destroy it.
In order to keep the fungus away and prevent the apple trees from getting destroyed, farmers often spray the trees with sulphur – a non-metallic substance that discourages the fungus to grow and destroy the apple tree. This is the main reason why it is suggested to always wash an apple before eating it.
