The climate of Belgium is a temperate, maritime climate. Its climate is mainly influenced by the air masses that blow into the country from the Atlantic Ocean. The weather in Belgium during the winter varies considerably because of the frequent and rapid changes in the movements of different masses of air. These air masses are separated by fronts.
The conditions caused by the formation and movement of the fronts that bifurcate the masses of air from the west to the east produce heavy and frequent rainfall. The annual rainfall, on an average, measures approximately 30 to 40 inches (or about 750 to 1, 000 millimetres).
Winters are damp and cool, and there are frequent fogs as well. The temperatures in summer are rather mild. It is usually about 10 degrees Centigrade on an average. Brussels, the capital of Belgium, is located in the centre of the country. It has a mean minimum temperature of about -0.3 degrees Centigrade in the month of January and a mean maximum temperature of about 21.6 degrees Centigrade in the month of July.

Belgium has a mixed climate, some areas near the sea experience humid and mild climate and the inlands experience and increase in temperature. It rains heavily during April and November and the rains are confined mainly to the highlands. Towards the southeasterly districts, the summers are very hot and the winters are extremely cold. Temperatures get colder at night so bringing warm waterproof clothes is a good idea. You can even expect to find snow fall during the winter so the best time to visit is during the summer season between May and September.
Belgium has very similar weather to south UK. Belgium has in recent years experienced hot summers with the temperature reaching up to 30ºC in cities, but during the month of July the temperatures average around 13-22°C and during Jan the temperature are around 0° to 5°C.
