How Do You Set Up The Altar For Mass?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

The altar has a linen cloth on it, which is white if a topper is used.  The top linen is the color of the season, or indicative of what is being celebrated.  (I.e a feast day, a Holy Day) etc.
Candles are on the altar and the book with the prayers and the order of the Mass.
A square cloth (called a corporal) is placed in the center of the altar which will hold the chalice and the paten with the Hosts during the consecration.

The altar is set much like a table is set for sharing a meal with the family.
Every piece is symbolic and important in the Mass.
