Cape Finisterre is a rock-bound peninsula, which is situated at the west of Galicia, Spain.
Cape Finisterre is the westernmost point of Spain, and its name, Finistère is derived from Finisterrae in Latin which literally means "Land's End". It has a very distinguished lighthouse on it and very close to it is the town of Fisterra. Some of the most famous beaches found in this area are O Rostro, Arnela, Mar de Fora, Langosteira, Riveira, and Corbeiro. These beaches are framed by vertical cliffs leading downward to the "Mare Tenebrosum"
Cape Finisterre is the concluding objective for many pilgrims on the Way of St. James, the pilgrimage to the place of worship of the apostle Saint James the Great in the cathedral of Santiago de Compostela.
