This Question Is Answered:
I Can't Afford More Surgeries For My Canary! Are There Any Organizations That Could Help? I Have Nursed Him Back To Health Many Times But Now He Has Several New Painful Cysts On His R Wing & Chest! Help Anyone?
The usual response is that I could have paid for an entire FLOCK of canaries by now, but how can I not care for the one I already have? He’s been such a brave and good little friend for 5 years now, always rewarding my faithfulness by bouncing back from 2 illnesses and 2 surgeries! Now he’s developed several more cysts on his R wing and chest! Is there anyone out there who can explain why he keeps developing these painful cysts? I could spend another thousand dollars on surgeries, but then what? I love this little guy.

Its treatment of course involves surgically removing the feather follicles but if the follicle is just cut off and the accumulation of keratin with the feather is removed, then there are chances of its recurrence unless the wide incision of the feather follicle is done. Moreover, if it carries genetically multiple affected feathers then surgery is not recommended. Its better to provide it a diet having following amino acids:
Methionine
Lysine
Threonine
Tryptophan
Lecithin that is an unsaturated fatty acid is also helpful in feather growth to take place well. Other essential nutrients to cure this problem are:
Adequate B vitamins,
Mineral food mainly zinc
Folic acid
Biotin
