What Color Should A Pineapple Become When Ripe?

Answer Question

3 Answers - Sort by: Date | Rating

It should be a mixture of dusky yellow and brown.  For a pineapple to obtain maximum flavor, it should not be green at all.
    Two more things:
    1.  Pineapples don't really ripen once they've been picked, so you should try to buy them as ripe as you can.
    2.  If the pineapple is being sold by weight, there is no law that says you can't rip the top off of it before you get to the checkout counter.  If it's not going to be on display, there is no reason that you should pay for a bunch of green pointy things that you are just going to throw away.

Excellent answer. I find here in the North, due to many fruits being picked early to be transported here can't get a decent mangoe. When I lived down south a lot of fruit was nice and ripe and much more sweet. Here you have to wait and ripen a lot of your fruit before eating as it is tasteless and bland.

As it ripens, it changes from green to a light brownish colour.
