Who Am I Supposed To Pay Rent To?

There are two people that own the house I'm living in. On the lease it says I owe rent to the Landlord (who is, of course, both these people) but the actual mortgage for the house comes out of the bank account of only one of the owners. Am I required, in the State of Hawaii, to give half the mortgage to one owner and half to the other?

You should read your lease carefully. What payment method you have adopted. If the house is a dual property of two people then they must share the amount. You don't need to worry about if one person is taking it or both. All you need to be sure if you are paying exactly as described in the agreement.

You have to pay the landlord, which is most likely on that lease. Remember your just a roomate, don't worry about the other owner.

In Hawaii, like most of the States, written contracts should always be used. This is done so both parties know the expectations of each other, and the contract can always be revisited if problems/ issues arise.

It is recommended to have Rental Agreement's on paper and signed. So both parties will be protected. And in your case, don't split rent, just stick to the contract.
