How Do I Fix Cdrom Drive?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

Fixing a CD-ROM drive is a broad trouble shooting area as there are a range of problems that are associated with the CD-ROM drive.

One tip would be to try the drive on another system to see if it gets detected there. This could possibly introduce other variables which could confuse the issue. Yet at the same time it can be an extremely effective means of isolating the problem to the CD-ROM drive or possibly to the PC on the other hand. In the same way, you can try to use another identical (or similar) CD-ROM on the same PC to see whether the trouble is the drive or if it is the drive interface.

Also, bear in mind that you will need to remove any ESD or Electrostatic Discharge by means of grounding yourself prior to touching the components that are within the computer.
