Pemphigus Foliaceous is an auto immune disease in which skin has inflammatory conditions and is characterized by blisters, pustules and skin rupture. Its treatment include immunosuppressants and corticosteroids like prednisone.
The vet has prescribed only anti allergy. He knows better what to do. Your dog might not have Pemphigus Foliaceous.
Steroids are given at early stages of Pemphigus Foliaceous. If there are skin rupture and wounds, the steroids can not be given due to anti proliferative effects of steroids. This effect does not allow healing of wound by stopping mitosis. If more than 10% body area is involved then also steroids are not used. These might be the reasons that you vet did not prescribed steroids for your dog.
