What Is Chewing Gum?

Answer Question

2 Answers - Sort by: Date | Rating

Chewing gum is a confectionary which can be chewed but not swallowed. It was previously made up of Chicle.  However as the times have changed modern chewing gum makers have started using materials like Petroleum based Polymers over the traditional Chicle. This substitute has been chosen for the reasons of economy and quality.

However even after the discovery of Petroleum based Polymers in chewing gum, many traditional markets like Japan still prefer the old style Chicle based chewing gum. The chewing gum manufacturing company from the United States called 'Glee Gum' is the last gum manufacturing company in the US to use Chicle in their gum products. Chewing gums are available all over the world; they come in various flavours and colors. They also vary in different shapes and sizes.
