A diabetic person has the same nutritional needs as any other person; however, they do have higher levels of glucose in their blood. It is recommended that they eat a diet low in fat, sugar, salt and high in fruits and vegetables, and starchy carbohydrate food.
There is absolutely no need whatsoever to cut out anything from the diet if you are diabetic. You don't even have to cut out all sugar; you just need to eat small amounts of food that is high in sugar or fat. As part of a balanced diet, there is no reason why a diabetic cannot eat cakes and biscuits sparingly.
The only real concern involves fruit juice as it can be high in fructose which is basically fruit sugar. To avoid fruit juice causing a problem, you could aim to drink a small glass with a meal and don't have more than one glass per day.
Overall, there is no need to cut anything out but if you do want advice, you could always ask your doctor.
