I would suggest you mountain regions where the nature is at its best. Where there is lot of greenery. You don't need to worry about the good scenery. Every sight will be delight and breath taking.

Try taking pictures at either end of the day when the light is at an angle, giving you more drama. Use a tripod---that will slow you down and force you to give the composition some thought.
Use a polarize filter if you want extra oomph, and under-expose slightly to get a deeper color satuation. Under-expose a lot to give you a different perspective.
When you are ready, then try your hand at working in black and white with film or digital. That's where the masters dwell.
