    If I Am Only To Claim One Of My Children On My Taxes Each Year, Can I Claim Both If I Have Not Received Child Support The Last Year?

    My ex owes over $4000.00 for child support.My question is in my court papers he is to claim the youngest of the 2 and I am to claim the oldest one.But this year i claimed both because he is behind in child support.Will I be introuble for that?

    You may be questioned about it. If your ex claims  one also you both will have to prove who supported the child. If i were you, i would go ahead and go to the court house and go to the child support deptment and get a copy of the child support he or she has paid and when it stopped and i would keep that in my tax record for future referrence, if you are questioned, that way you already have your proof. The reason i know this is because it has happened to me.
