I have a one year old Bichon that has been vomiting since the after noon, he has Vomited about 4 or 5 times. Is this a serious problem?

I am always concerned when a young dog starts vomiting. The biggest problem is when they have eaten something like a toy, rock, or clothing and it gets obstructed or stuck in the stomach or intestines. Foreign body obstruction causes vomiting, anorexia, lethargy, and abdominal pain. This can be a life threatening problem and requires surgery. Other causes of vomiting include dietary indiscretion (eating unusual food or plants in the yard for example), pancreatitis, intestinal parasites, toxins, and viral diseases. Have your dog examined by a veterinarian for a thorough examination, x-rays, and fluid therapy if dehydrated.
