Why Was Mrs Thatcher Hated?

Mrs Thatcher was not universally hated.  She won three general elections and governed from 1979 until 1990.  However, she was quite radical in the sense that she caused deep splits between those who admired and supported her and those who did not have any support for her.  Some people claim that the only reason she was elected three times was because there was no effective opposition.  
There was also something of a split within Britain as a whole.  Mrs Thatcher was not popular in Scotland or Wales and also in areas where she had crushed the Miners' strike which started in 1985.  She was more popular in the south of the country.
She was dedicated to low taxes, low taxation and low public spending, but some of the reforms which she introduced, particularly to the National Health Service were seen as extremely controversial and this is why she is often vilified.
