What Does It Mean When Someone Says : "You Put Your Foot In It"?

I think it means : "you make someone angry" but I have also another versionы .

    LOL.We talk about that all the time. When a relative visited from Amarillo and had some of our food ,she said,"you really put your foot in it". We all laughed so hard. It means, at least in this sense that you did real good.

    It depends on how you use it,most of the time it means you have over talked or gave too much information and it is about to get you in trouble......Peace

    As for food it means that it is exceptionally tasty,and good. People say you should cook with love and it will come through the food.

      This expression can also have the opposite meaning as in you stepped in a pile of manure, or you stirred up something smelly.
