Where Does The Name Antony Originate From?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

It seems that the name Antony is the original version of the name Anthony, which was changed in England after the Norman Conquest.  It appears to have been changed to match the Catholic Saint, Saint Anthony.   Immigration records that I found, show that most Antony family  members came from Germany, the earliest of which I found was in 1851.  So, it is my conclusion that it is German in origin.
