Answer Question

If you want to know the meaning of the word potter, and you do not want to know about Harry Potter, first of all, it must be noted that the word potter is used both in the form of a verb as well as in the form of a noun.

When the word potter is used in the form of a verb, it is usually preceded by the word to and followed by the word about (that is to potter about). The phrase to potter about means either to do random work or to participate in those activities that are unplanned or to while away one's time or to work lightly.

To potter also means to move about without any particular aim or reason to move about. The word potter, when it is used in the form of a noun, is defined as a skilled craftsman who shapes pottery, out of clay, on a potter's wheel and then baked them in a kiln to make clay pots.

I'm not sure, but I think a 'potter' (not Harry Potter) is a person who makes clay pots.
