What Is Gang Violence?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

Gang violence refers to acts of violence committed by gang members. These acts of violence can be against members of the same gang, other gangs or members of the general public. Gang violence has become much more dangerous in recent times due to the proliferation of handguns. Most gang members commit crimes due to issues related to status, turf, revenge etc. Crimes these gangs commit are not random acts of violence. Though there are instances that an issue of perceived disrespect can turn to violence. Most victims of gang violence are gang members themselves. Members of the public who live in areas where this problem exists can also be at risk to suffer from gang related violence. Several films such as "Colors" staring Sean Penn and Robert Duvall are based on gang culture in Los Angeles.
