Viruses are made to currupt our systems.
The reason why they are made depends on the certain person who makes them. Some people make them "for fun" just because they can.
Other people send out viruses as a way of hacking out computer system, and obtaining information such as credit card numbers, and passwords to websites.
It's very sad that things like this happen on the internet. The reason why there are so many, is because more anti-virus systems are being made. Therefore the viruses makers have to "make" a new virus that is stronger then the anti-virus so that the virus isn't destroyed before it has had the chance to get into our computer system.
If you have viruses I would sugest you run an anti virus scan ^_^
