What Is A Web Directory?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

The directory available on the World Wide Web is known as a web directory. Its main focus is to link to other web sites and classify those links.

A web directory normally lists web-sites according to category and sub category and is not a search engine.

Quiet a few directories are very normal in their capacity and have an extensive range of grouping based on categories, region and languages. Some of these directories are even based on specialist fields.

Some common web directories are Yahoo Directory and the Open Directory Project (ODP). ODP is noteworthy because of its widespread classification, huge number of listings and basic free availability for use by other search engines.

A number of attempts have been made to make directory development easier by introducing "links for all" type link submission site based on a script.
