What Is The Main Difference Between Oracle 8i And Oracle 9i?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

There are many differences between Oracle 8i and the Oracle 9i. Oracle 9i is obviously the better version compared to Oracle 8i as it has many features that the Oracle 8i does not have. Oracle 9i is the most definite choice. Oracle 9i is a better choice from the point of view from both developer and the administrator. Oracle 9i has the ability to work in programs like PL and SQL while you could not do that with Oracle 8i. Oracle 9i also has a time stamp option which was missing in the earlier version. You can also debug java procedures in the new version.

The new monitoring tool in the new version called STATPACK is a great help. There is a possibility of viewing snapshots and dropping a column in the table. The ROWID features have also been improved to a great extent in the new version.
