How Do I Connect A HPIIIp To A Usb Port?
My new motherboard has usb & fire wire ports. I purchased a parallel to usb cable to connect my HPIIIp. The computer sees the printer on the Virtual usb printer port but the printed output consists of a single line of characters & symbols. I suspect the problem has to do with the PCL conversion not being done. Any help would be appreciated.

You are seeing single characters and lines because of two reasons. One is that the printer is not properly installed on your computer. Secondly the printer is not reading patterns from your computer. Did you try the test page? Is it working fine?
You can try by pulling out usb cable and then insert it again in the computer to check if it could print properly. Also read troubleshooting tips of your printer.
