Changing your birth name is quite easy. If you are in the state of Michigan, you need to go to the county courthouse of the state and inquire for the name change. Here are some of the instructions you need to follow in order to change your birth name. First, you have to be at least 22 years of age in order to go ahead with the change of your birth name. You need to meet an official there and prove this that you are not changing your name for a fraudulent or criminal intent. You also have to prove that you have been living in that particular county for at least a year. You need to fill up a petition and get it approved by the notary public and pay a fee for it. You also need to make copies of your fingerprints. After submitting all the details and your new name, you shall be contacted by the court in about six to eight weeks and you will be made stand in front of a judge for clarification and from then on, you can use your new name.

First you need to draft Michigan's legal name change forms. You can get a do-it-yourself name change kit that includes the legal forms you need along with instructions at [ LegalFormsBank.biz ]. Then once you have the forms filled in you just follow the instructions on where to file the paperwork.
