Dogs stop eating whenever they are sick but if loss of appetite continues for at least 24 hour then illness is suspected. This condition is general sign of illness and almost all diseases can cause loss of appetite in dogs. Common diseases and conditions which cause loss of appetite are

- Skin diseases
- Eye diseases
- Brain diseases
- Ear, nose and throat diseases
- Liver and kidney diseases
