Answer Question

Fiction books are imaginary stories that may or may not have real people, places and events in them.  Part of it may be true, but mainly a story created by the author.  Non-fiction books are fact books about certain subjects.  They are considered to be true and factual accounts.  Some examples of non-fiction can be science books, history books, biographies, textbooks, journals, blueprints,.etc.   These can be picture books also and may have very little text, such as pictures of an event or pictures of science experiments.

Fiction books are generally books which have no facts in them. They are purely made up and they include fictional characters, fictional places and fictional stories. However, sometimes fictional books can contain factual places, such as a made up story which takes place in a real place. If you think of soaps such as Eastenders or Coronation Street, they are fictional and the stories that occur within it are completely made up, yet they are entertaining. That is basically what a fictional book is.

A non-fiction book is the complete opposite and everything in it is based on true facts. For example, somebody's autobiography would be a non-fictional book, as everything in it is based on what has really happened in that person's life. Cookery books and hobby books are also non-fiction, as are books which are based on what has happened in somebody's childhood such as abuse.

Overall a fiction book is completely made up and a non-fiction book I based on facts.

Fiction involves storytelling of events that are made up. Non-fiction involves facts. In other words, events that haven't been made up.

Stories in fiction can be presented as short stories, novels, fairy tales, video games, films and so on. Fiction can include some basis on reality, but the stories in fiction are not solid facts as they are with non-fiction.

Non-fiction includes works such as auto-biographies, biographies, documentaries, journals, essays, memoirs, textbooks, letters, travelogues, book reports.

Books that are based on real-life events are classed as fiction, despite the fact that the events in the book have actually happened and aren't made up. This can also apply to films which have been based on real-life events. Take the 1997 film Titantic, for example. The film was based on real-life events, but it involved the fictional romantic storyline of the fictional characters, Jack and Rose. Therefore, the film would be labelled as fiction.

The difference between non-fiction and fiction simply put is that fiction deals with make belief stories and events that have not actually happened in reality and non-fiction is in essence a prosaic piece of literature that elucidates on various topics in the manner of essays, critical writing, expository writings etc. Fiction is almost always about how we choose to view the world as and depicts a complicated system of thoughts and tends to instruct in a symbolic manner. Most fiction usually revolves around three basic notions, man against man, man against nature and man versus God. It is also said about Fiction that almost all stories ever written can be classified into simplified versions of Romance, Revenge and upheavals that we encounter in our lives. Fiction tends to help us mull over and understand the world we are living in better through characters that don't actually exist and seem to enhance our comprehension. Non-Fiction however, is more straightforward and seemingly deals with more practical ideas in the form of essential discourses.

Poetry can be fiction or non-fiction depending on whether it is made up of facts or just a made-up story.
