    I Have A Six Year Old Daughter Who Paternity Has Never Been Established. I Have Tried To But The Father Is Nowhere To Be Found. I Have Recently Gotten Married And My Husband Will Like For My Daughter To Have His Last Name Considering That She Doesn't Even Know Her Real Father And I Have Been With This Man Since She Was Born, Can He Just Sign The Papers And Say That He Is The Father And Do We Have To Go Through An Adoption Procedure?I Don't Know Where To Begin.

    You will still have to go thru the adoption papers. i am pretty sure you have to show the courts that you have tried to contact the father thru certified letters or ads in the paper & then when he does not show up for the court date your husband will be able to legally adopt her. if not should something happen to her she is legally nothing to him & other family members can sue & get custody of the chills.
