Is It Complicated Setting Up The Hardware And Getting Online With Broadband For The First Time?

Answer Question

No, broadband service providers have put in a lot of time and effort to make the whole process as easy and as user-friendly as possible. After all, it is in their best interests to do so in order to reduce the number of support calls they need to field from new users trying to get online.

For the most part, it is fairly point and shoot stuff. However, before you start connecting up cables, routers and computers etc. take the time to sit down and read over the getting started guide that is supplied with the kit. Making sure you have a clear understanding before starting will save a lot of time and frustration in the end.

Once the hardware is sorted, getting online with broadband isn't that complex. Because - like mains water, electricity and gas – broadband is 'always on', you only need to establish the connection, under normal service conditions when your line is first activated.

Your ISP supplies full instructions on how to initiate your broadband link. Typically, it is no more testing than launching Internet Explorer, entering a web address, then entering a username and password, and clicking Okay.

Generally it is very easy and instructions provided should guide you through every step of the way. It is much the same as joining any other service, be it online or not.
