What Is The Capital Of Turkey?

The capital city and chief seaport of Turkey is Istanbul. This city was originally founded as Byzantium in about 660 BC and it was renamed Constantinople in AD 330 by Alexander the Great. It became Istamboul as the capital of the Ottoman Empire in 1922.

The city has a population of about 6.5 million and its main industries are cement, glass, leather and textile production. It is also a major producer for the tobacco industry.

Major features of the city include the harbour of the Golden Horn, Emperor Justinian's Church of the Holy Wisdom, founded in 537 but now a mosque, the Blue Mosque and the Topkapi Palace, palace of the Sultans with a harem of 400 rooms. This is now a major museum in the city.

Istanbul is also home to the famous Scutari Hospital, where Florence Nightingale served and tended the wounded of the Boer War. The rooms used by Florence Nightingale can still be seen and this is also a museum today.

Nazli is correct.  Although Istanbul is the largest city in the country, Ankara being second, Ankara is the capital.
