The seven Central Asian republics include Armenia, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyztan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan. These countries are located between two mountain ranges, namely the Caucuses and the Pamirs.
Although many of the Central Asian republics share a common past under the influence of the former Soviet Union, they are very diverse countries and often vary significantly from each other in terms of their culture, language and religion. For example, many of the languages spoken in the region have close connections to Turkish, while others are closer to Farsi. In terms of religion, Armenia is a primarily Christian country, while Uzbekistan is mainly Muslim.
The countries also differ from each other in terms of their respective landscapes. Armenia and Azerbaijan, for example, are know for their rugged terrain and mountains, while deserts and plains dominate in Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan. Farming and herding is still very popular in these countries, and a number of them still have significant nomadic populations.

I've been studying Armenia for a decade and this is the first place I've ever heard of it referred to as a "Central Asian" anything...
Armenia and Azerbaijan are in a region known to geographer's as "Eurasia". And are not included in the 5 Central Asian republics by anyone or any organization of any significance. USAID for example doesn't include Armenia or Azerbaijan in this group either.
Some consider Georgia, Armenia and Azerbaijan in "Eastern Europe", which brings another interesting point. If Armenia and Azerbaijan are supposedly considered Central Asian Republics, why wouldn't Georgia too be considered? Georgia shares a border with both Armenia and Azerbaijan and a common Soviet past. Georgia too is in the Caucasus Mountains... so by this 7-state definition it too should be considered part of the group. This proves another hole in this 7-state theory.
The Eurasian (Caucasian) states of Armenia and Azerbaijan are not part of Central Asia in anyway, including Geographically. The rest of the above answer I have no problem with.
