What Was The Vietnamese War?

    Well you may like to be more specific. Vietnamese War throughout history there are many wars in Vietnam.

    Your question may be relate to the wider acknowledge of the Vietnam War in the 20th century. Which in itself may be classified into two different wars.
    - The war against the France - colonial war
    - The war against the American

    But to call the Vietnamese War then in the 20th Century - it is between the north and the south. After the Paris Treaty to end the war with France in 1954. It is agreed that Vietnam divided into two parts at the 17th parallel and national election to be held two years later in 1956 (Note: The US of America never a party to the convention therefore they never uphold the treaty).

    The north to be control by the communist party under the leadership of Ho Chi Minh. The south to be control by Emperor Bao Dai. The south change from monarch rule a republic with Ngo Dinh Diem as president.

    In 1956 the national election was never held according to the Paris Treaty. Therefore the Vietnamese War began.

    The United States of America supported south Vietnam with military aids and advisers, in 1965 began military involvement in the war against US of America.
