Is There An Indiana State Law On How Long A Landlord Has To Give Your Damage Deposit Back?

I moved out of state and have been waiting on my deposit for 4 months, I have called the landlord numerous times but he has not returned any of my calls. The landlord had me leave my new address and contact info along with the key when I moved out, but I am wondering if he thinks since I moved out of state that I would just "forget" about my damage deposit.

Well, the standard time for paying back the deposit after deducting charges for damages is 40 days. The landlord must give back the remaining deposit in this time unless otherwise specified in the agreement. Its been 4 months and you have not gotten your deposit back. I suggest you talk to the landlord and if he doesn't agree, make a complain against him.
