Where Is Loudwater?

A hamlet in the Parish of Chepping Wycombe in Buckinghamshire is called Loudwater. Its location is in the east of the main town on the London road.
The name of the hamlet is attributed to a river that is flowing through nearby High Wycombe. And the name signifies its literal meaning, the noisy water. Earlier its name was La Ludewatere, as is found in the manorial records of the year 1241.

Today the hamlet has almost lost its significance as the urban developments in the nearby High Wycombe have outshined it and most of the people recognise it only as a signpost on the London Road. But whenever somebody searches the historical facts, he is sure to be interested in this little hamlet; if not in the history of the place certainly in the nomenclature.
