Do You Live In A Town With A Rich And Interesting History?

I live in Independence, Mo.- Harry Truman's home town as well as the starting point for the Santa Fe, California and Oregon Trails. We had several Civil War battles here and have lots of Civil War houses and many just plain old houses. Although I am not RLDS-Indep. Mo is the RLDS headquarters. There is lots of Old West History here too, including the Younger brothers and the James brothers. Sorry to brag- I just love my home town!

Is rich in history alright. Open prostitution and gambling were legal here in my lifetime. You don't get much richer than that! I still remember passing by a local sporting house with mom and dad when I was very young and one of them said something about the cat house and I said I didn't see any cats. They laughed for hours and I didn't get the humor of it till I was much older!

Wow that IS some history! Not such a great one though- huh? Well we now have river boat casinos down by the Missouri river, but I of course have never visited any! I got better things to do with my $$ Don't know if we have any 'cat houses' but we do have an animal shelter!! ha ha :)
