    Northants is a county in central England, but this name is only an abbreviated form and the full name of the county is Northamptonshire. The county is landlocked and shares its borders with Warwickshire, Leicestershire, Rutland, Cambridgeshire, Bredfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire and Lincolnshire. Northampton is the county town of this County. The area of the county is 2,364 square kilometers and its estimated population in the year 2005 is 651,800.

    Northamptonshire is often termed as the county of squires and spires as this county has variety of county houses and historic buildings. The county also has the distinction of being the origin place of many important rivers like Nene and Warwickshire Avon. The notable towns of the county other than Northampton are Corby, Wellingborough, Kettering, Rushden and Daventry.
