How Can The Oil Crisis Be Solved?

The oil crisis is probably impossible to solve by continuing to use oil as a primary source of fuel that is fueling progress. The crisis set in not because there is not enough oil right now but because there won't be enough in the future. Nigeria is having trouble with its rebels, Iran loves it when the prices are high and so do the Russians and Saudi Arabia has reached the peak of its pumping capacity, even here in England the North Sea oil only becomes feasible when prices are high. In earlier years price was stabilised by the Saudis, by increasing production capacity. This leverage available to the free world has been lost.

The only alternative, since the supply end is a quagmire, is to decrease consumption, reduce dependence on oil and find alternate and complimentary sources of energy. Earlier oil was cheap and so it was uneconomical to find, develop and employ alternatives.

Alternatives include reusable sources such as solar, wind, geo thermal and tidal amongst others. Complimentary sources include adding additives such as Ethanol to fuel and of course to generally limit the consumption of energy.
