First examine what your needs are, then try to match them with what's available in Dallas, TX.
If you have kids, close proximity to schools, playgrounds. etc. should be a top consideration. Close proximity to your new job site, shopping centres, downtown banks, malls, etc. should also be considered.
Also, your budget. How much 'home' can you afford comfortably (as well as the property taxes and utilities)?

If there are health issues in your family, close proximity to medical facilities and pharmacies should be considered.

I know all of this sounds like a lot, but you want to make an informed decision that's gonna be the best one for you, your family and your situation.

Then get some information from realtors in the area (make sure to shop around), real estate magazine, the Internet, get assistance through the local chamber of commerce in Dallas or Real Estate organisations there that help consumers. (like HUD).

These are just a few of the ideas from off the top of my head, but just remember; This will be one of the biggest purchases you'll ever make, so you'd be wise to have a solid game plan to guide you. Hope this helps.

I wish you good luck, and God-speed.
