The best thing to do is wait a year or so if your credit is really bad. Give time for your FICO score to come up. Each time your credit is run your FICO score drops in points so beware of that. They send all your info to many lenders and they pull credit. So if possible I would work on repairing the credit or trying filing 7 or 13 if you have a lot of debt, depending on your issues you may can get help from filing. Please be careful of letting lenders pull credit; it never helps, only hurts if you know your score is bad.
