Where Is Vauxhall?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

Vauxhall is basically an inner city region of south London located in the London Borough of Lambeth. It also shares its name with the Vauhall Parliamentary Constituency, which comprises of Brixton and Clapham. From the year 1998 a lot of geographical confusion was started as Vauxhall became a portion of the boroughs of North Lambeth due to managerial reasons.

Vauxhall is not stated in the 1086 Domesday Book. This area made up a huge portion of South Lambeth. The land out here was marshy and flat with relatively poor drainage system; this system was finally improved around the mid 18th century.

This region became well known because of its name, when the Vauxhall pleasure gardens were opened to the general public as a tourist attraction.
