    The smallest particle of a compound is a molecule. Molecule is the basic unit of a compound. A molecule is formed when two or more atoms are combine. These atoms may belong to the same element or different elements. The atoms in a molecule are combined with the help of bonds. The number of atoms or types of atoms in a molecule are represented by a formula known as molecular formula. The number of atoms of a particular element in a molecule is shown by adding subscript to the symbol of element.
