The hormone itself is thermogenic, which means it can raise the core temperature. It can also be used as an anti-inflammatory to reduce spasms, and also to regulate the immune system. Other qualities that the hormone boasts are the ability to regulate blood-clotting; increase zinc levels in the body and more generally increases bone function and bone/ligament-building. Current studies have shown promise in that Progesterone has aided recovery from endometriosis and cancer of the uterus and has been found to be particularly helpful in Multiple Sclerosis (MS).

Progesterone's main function is to stimulate the milk production in pregnant femaless. In other females it is the only reason for the development of all female characteristics like high pitched voice, growth of breasts etc. In some rare cases that hormone was not produced and such women are administered the hormone artificially.
