Answer Question

Global Positioning System (GPS) is the present age's most innovating invention. More than two dozen satellites are in medium Earth orbit, transmitting signals allowing GPS receivers to determine the receiver's location, speed and direction.

GPS works with the help of two segments. They are space segment and control unit segment. It has another segment as well, that is user segment. Space segment is comprised f satellites that are surrounding the earth and rotating around earth in their orbitals. Control segments are GPS stations located on earth. They are for receiving and sending data from and to satellites respectively. They are also involved in facilitating user segment. User segment can be any device of our daily use or of special importance. It can be a GPS receiver or our mobile handset. All are of the same kind and same fashion.

They have to receive the information and location data from satellites or space segment. A GPS receiver works when it is with in the range of 3 or more satellites.so where ever you are, you only need to have coverage of three satellites at least, to find out you latitudes and longitudes distance with the help of GPS.
